Abstract

In this talk, we will see how Seiberg-Witten invariants change under certain four-manifold surgeries: blow-ups and logarithmic transformations. Logarithmic transformations can be used to obtain a family of smooth four-manifolds called "Dolgachev surfaces", which are homeomorphic, but have different Seiberg-Witten invariants, so they are not diffeomorphic.
